Back To School Blunder

Back to school is finally back in full swing! Woooohoooooo! The lack of schedule, kids eating all day, chaotic, active, running in all directions, packing for the beach, slathering on the sunblock, friends over everyday, up late at night, busy, busy, busy-ness of summer isn’t even the issue for me…it’s that darn getting ready to go back that gets me every year! It’s expensive, and it’s frustrating, and it’s sooooo much thinking that this particular mama can get a headache with a quickness, lol.

We were just about to wrap up the last of school supplies, backpacks, lunch forms, sports physicals, sports clearance, ASB fees, Player fees, practice beginning, picture forms, new make-up and perfume/cologne, haircuts, new shoes, and finally, the ever-important back to school outfits…and I was just about through with sanity…

We were picking up two more pairs of jeans for my son and I didn’t see the size he needed. I looked around at all the sales people, with their badges and similar outfits, and decided to stop the two walking closest to us.

“Do you have more inventory in the back…or is this all you have out here?” I asked

This was received with a blank stare and a mumbled “uh…I think that’s all there is…”

I mean, seriously?! After all that I have been through trying to get these guys ready (and the term shop til you drop definitely applies here because I was about to pass out) and this is all the help I can get out of them?!

“Well, you’re so very helpful” I mumbled back, completely losing my Christianity in the moment of stress…and then quickly snapped back to my senses as my son (completely embarrassed) says quietly to me:

“Ooohhhh my gosh, Mom…they don’t even work here!!!”

It’s pretty funny NOW…but not so much when I humiliated my first born, lol. We live and we learn, right?
