Dandelion Mama

That little child, playing in the sun, his attention is grabbed by the bright beauty of the “flower” he sees across the yard. He runs toward the golden bud, anxious to wrap his chubby hands around its perfect, green stem. This is quite possibly the most amazing thing he has ever seen, and it’s here in his own yard, just waiting for him…this beautiful thing is his. The child doesn’t realize this thing is nothing more than a weed. A nuisance to most people. An undesirable object, often resentfully plucked and thrown away. Most people would rather have the perfection of a tulip, the fragrance of a rose, or the brilliance of a orchid…but not this little child. He loves his dandelion, and he wears his pride of it like a badge of honor while he carries it around, showing it to anyone that will take the time to also see the beauty in it.

Are you a dandelion mama?

Do you not know that greater than the  consequences of your past decisions, bigger than the personal shortcomings you have defined yourself by, and deeper than perceptions you presume others have of you…is the pedestal that your little child has placed you on? You are a little someone’s everything, and his definition of magnificence is all wrapped up in you – his most important and lovely possession.

So let him celebrate the beauty of his dandelion…and be the spectacular flower he already thinks you are! Find the love for yourself that your child already has for you. Until he finds his own faith in the God that created him, you are his Alpha and Omega. Until he learns to ask his Savior for the desires of his heart, you are the one he will expect to meet his precious needs. Until he is able to recognize the Holy Spirit’s gentle embrace, you will be the hug he finds comfort in.

Don’t let him down, and don’t let Him down either – you phenomenal, Dandelion Mama.
