Prayer Armour

This will be a very short post tonight. I’m sitting at my computer, the house is so quiet, my precious children five are all finally sleeping soundly. Three of them will wake up (yes, that means me too) so early in the morning, put on their new clothes, throw their loaded backpacks over their shoulders, and head off to the first day of the the 2009-10 school year.

This seems to hold more significance this year, and will certainly require more prayer than ever before, as our oldest travels to school tomorrow as a freshmen in high school. We also have a middle schooler and a grade schooler (in her last year at that level). As they grow older, I am reminded of the ever growing intensity in the battle for their eternities. Yes, the temptations and opportunities to make wrong choices are only going to grow as our children do the same. While the babies are under our constant care, being guided by us in everything they do, the older children are increasingly out of our sights, facing the enemy without us. It is now so crucial to cover them completely with the armour of our prayer, so I’ll leave you tonight with this:

Lamentations 2:19…Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to Him for the lives of your children, who faint from hunger at the head of every street.
