Me vs. Time
Time…Sweet time, have mercy on me please. You move so quickly now, I feel that I can hardly grab enough of you. I wish you would just…S L O W W W W…D O W N.
Time…I’ve learned by now that you simply won’t stop…not even for a moment…not even if I beg and cry. So, my only option is to enjoy you as best I can, during the fleeting glimpses I manage to squeeze from your greedy hands.
Time…I hope you don’t think that your speed will win you this battle – because you would be wrong about that. I will cherish every minute and will, therefore, be the victor – as those memories belong to me forever and ever…and armed with such precious treasures, well…
I WIN.

My Niece’s Sleepover Letter
Dear Mommy and Daddy,
My first sleepover at Aunt Donna’s was SO much fun!! So much fun, in fact, that I really didn’t even have the chance to miss you and Daddy (I know you missed me though). I hope you’re having a good time too, in Sea-wattle or wherever it was you guys went…but I’m very happy you left me here to play with my cousins!
During my time in the oh-so-amazing Sparrow Kingdom, I experienced lots of “firsts”: I was allowed to walk around with food in my hand…climb on the furniture…get up onto the counter…eat my brownie before dinner…stay up late…root for the Lakers with Uncle Tony (Daddy, they’re my new favorite team!)…draw all over the bathtub with bath-time crayons (although I spent most of my time wiping up what D’Lo scribbled)…and I ended it all by falling asleep, in a big bed on the floor, with my big girl cousins!
You may have to re-program me once you get me home…but P L E A S E, PUH-LEEZ say that you’ll let me stay again soon!!!
I love you sooooooo much, Mommy and Daddy.
Love, your little girl,
Keira

Tam-pom
Everyone who knows my Little Madman, knows that he is nothing short of the Tasmanian Devil…he is everywhere and he touches everything. He’s like a (really cute) perfect storm, leaving his trail of destruction as evidence of his presence.
Today it was my bathroom, or to be more specific, my bathroom drawers. I could hear him in there digging around but the baby had me distracted so I sort of just let him do his thing. Finally he emerged, carrying in his little hand what, I just know, he must have thought was some sort of really delicious candy…
Handing me the brightly wrapped, orange and white package he asked “Mama, what’s this?”
“Uuuummmm, well Baby, that’s a tampon.”
“A tam-pom?!” he asked excitedly
“Yes.”
…Eyes lighting up, big smile on his face – “Oooh, I want a tam-pom!”
You Want Some?
So, this funny madman I call D’Lo has officially become a bugar eater….ewwww, gross! I caught him red-handed (or do I say green-fingered?). As I gazed disapprovingly at his actions, he noticed my attention and apparently decided to activate some manners…”You want some?”
“No, D’Lo, Mommy doesn’t want any…that’s yucky.”
He looked around the playroom and began walking toward his rocking horse, finger re-entering his little nose…”You want some?” he asked the pony, shoving his snotty finger into its mouth.
He then glanced at the wall next to the horse, and then back again…looking at the wall once more…finger back into the nose, eyebrows frowning in deep thought, finger out of the nose…aaaannd (wiping said finger across the wall)… “The wall wants some.”
(Oh Lord, where are my antibacterial wipes!?)
