One Of Those Days

2:00 a.m.- Fed the baby

4:00 a.m.- Fed the baby

6:27 a.m.- me: “Baby, wake up. Have you finished your packing? We gotta leave in an hour and twenty minutes.”

 husband: “OK.”

6:30 a.m.- I get out of bed, he doesn’t. I gather flight itenerary & confirmation number for his trip, locate and cut photos for family in LA, feed baby.

7:00 a.m.- me: “Boo…Boo, you need to wake up. Get your football gear together. We have to leave in 45 minutes.”

 my son: “OK.”

7:20 a.m.- D’Lo wakes up…grumpy…”Booby, bed!”  Still haven’t seen husband up yet. So I go to check. Sit on the floor, nurse D’Lo, wake husband up again.

me: “Baby, do you have to shower? Are you going to be ready? Do you still have to pack?

husband: “Yeah, I have to shower. I can pack real quick. The airport won’t be that crowded.”

me: “Well, we have to leave here by 7:45.”

husband: “What time is it now?”

me: “7:25! We need to go, remember Boo needs to be at school by eight for pictures.”

husband: “WHAT!? You didn’t tell me that, or I would have been up already!”

me: “Yes…I most certainly did tell you that, more than once.”

 husband: “No, you didn’t!”

me: “OK, I’m lying! Of course I did, and we were dropping him on the way to the airport.”

husband: “You’ll have to take him and come back and get me.”

7:40 a.m.- Baby’s fussing. “C’mon Boo! We gotta go.”  Finish filling out the order form for his football pics today. Find keys. D’Lo is freaking out cuz I’m about to leave. “Want to go bye-bye Bubba?” Let’s go…Out the door, strap him in, start the car…the car is dead. Find other keys. Transfer the car seat.

7:57 a.m.- Finally arrive at the school. My oldest son is freakin’ out now cuz he has to be in uniform by eight for pictures and still has to get some stuff out of the locker.

8:07 a.m.- Get home. Get D’Lo out of car seat, he’s yelling cuz he still wants to go bye-bye. Go inside. Make oatmeal cuz there’s no meal on this flight. Go back to the room to check on husband. He’s in the bathroom.

me: “You’re not ready?! We have to go!”

husband: “It’s fine. We can leave here at nine.”

me: “What!? No…your flight leaves at ten, that’s not enough time!”

husband: “My flight leaves at ten!? I though you said it leaves at eleven?! Yeah, that’s what you said!”

me: “No, I most certainly did not! Why would I wake you up at 6:30am if your flight leaves at eleven?”

husband: “I don’t know…but you told me eleven!”

me: “OK…I guess I’m lying again.”

8:10-8:50 a.m.- Get baby up, change a poopy diaper, dish up oatmeal and put it on the counter, pack diaper bag, wake up the girls, try to start my car again (nope, still dead), transfer other car seat to other car, catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror (yikes!), get both babies secured in their car seats, wait for husband…

me: “Your oatmeal’s on the counter, bring it with you.”

husband: “I don’t have time to eat it. Let’s go.”

8:50 a.m.- Leave for the airport. Drop him off. Head home. Baby’s hungry again, he’s certainly letting me know.

This is getting way too long (and it’s not even nine in the morning yet)! Let me make the rest as brief as possible, as not to take up too much more of your time! Here’s the rest of my day in a nutshell:

Got home, got ready (sort of), got everyone else ready, tried to jumpstart the car-it’s a no go, went back to the school for my oldest son’s scrimmage, came home, tried to jumpstart the car again (thirty minutes this time) still a no go, called the tow truck, waited and hour and a half, he got the car to start, drove to Les Schwab, car is dead again.

*Highlight of the day…parents took me to lunch while we waited for news on the car*

Hour and a half later…car needs new battery, all fixed, pick it up, day is looking up…phone call…

My nephew got hurt during his football practice, go to the ER, pick up my niece, head home.

You know what? I think I’ll end this post now…just way too depressing and re-living it is exhausting me. What would be great is if all of my wonderful peeps could keep me in their prayers today…I really do need it.

V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!

The Portland Raiders are one step closer to clinching a spot in the upcoming playoffs…

Attention Raiders Nation (OK, so maybe more like Raiders City)!!  The guys brought their all to the field, kickin’ butt and taking names, as they trampled the Yakima Mavericks in a must win battle tonight. I didn’t actually get to watch the game since the newborn makes it kind of hard to travel to away games but, never the less, I am so proud of my husband and his Portland Raiders. Well, they’re not actually his Raiders but he’s doing a da** fine job leading this team to a definite comeback.

The Raiders have come a long way from the disorganized, disorderly, and sometimes disrespectful team that existed in the silver and black just last year. I remember attending games (while my husband still played) where the cursing coming from the players on the sideline was audible to the (very few) fans in the stands…and their children, and where fights broke out between our players and their own team mates! Well, with the new owner, Mike Jeske, the new league (Portland Raiders are now a member of the North American Football League, Northwest Division. Visit www.NAFL.org for more information), and the new coach…the new, sexy, handsome, talented, amazing, tireless, incredibly cute in his coaching shirt coach…Sorry, I lost my train of thought. OK, back on track. What I mean to say is that, with tonight’s 28-12 win over the Yakima Mavs, we are extremely proud of our Portland Raiders, players, coaches, and owner. GREAT JOB TONIGHT!

For more Raiders info, you can visit the official website at www.portlandraiders.org. I would also like to encourage everyone to come out and support the guys at next week’s home game against the undefeated Southern Oregon Renegades. It’s sure to be an exiting battle. GO RAIDERS!!!

Dirty Little Clean Boy

It’s amazing to me how a little boy could so equally enjoy the dirt and the soap…

My little D’Angelo, such a long name for such a tiny boy. Believe me when I tell you, however, that his stature is the only thing about him that is small. He is an incredibly pushy, loud, bossy, tough and tumble, stubborn, high maintenence…perfect, little man.

He loves to play with action figures, calls them his “mem” because, somehow, that’s so much easier for him to say than men. This could be anything from his brother’s old GI Joe toys to his sister’s male Bratz dolls. Today though, it meant his daddy’s collectible NFL statues that he somehow learned to get out of their enclosed, glass, display stand. As his daddy was leaving for work tonight, D’Lo came running out to say goodbye, Michael Vick in the left and Joe Montana in the right, waving them around, talking about “Bye bye Daddy!”…Oooh, Daddy almost had a cardiac arrest!

Well, more than the best “mem” that could ever be created, my D’Lo loves to play in the dirt. Could be any dirt too. Front yard dirt, back yard dirt, wet or dry dirt, from a houseplant dirt, doesn’t really matter…just as long as he can really dig in to it. You know, smear it on his face, a handful or two in his fro, whatever!

Interesting thing is, he loves the bath just as much, especially a bath with bottles of anything – body soap, shampoo, conditioner, baby products, lotion – either sitting around the edge or floating in the water. That way he can squeeze out the contents of said bottles into the water and make the biggest “clean” mess possible!  His new favorite is shaving cream. He absolutely adores the stuff, calls it notion (oh sure, now he can pronounce the letter N) because he thinks it’s lotion.

So, my crazy, skinny, high demand, perfect, precious, NFL collectible abusing, dirt and bath loving boy…isn’t he the cutest, dirty, little, clean boy you ever saw?
