Naptime Protection

D’lo really wanted to get up…he apparently does not believe in nap time, and fights his sleep every time we make the attempt. Today was no exception. He lay in our bed upstairs…squirming and fidgeting, tossing and turning. As I entered the room to check on him…

“Mama, come yay (lay) with me!”

“OK, Baby.” I said as I lay down next to him

“Hold me, Mama.”

“Awww, OK Baby, I love to hold you.” I answered, wrapping my arm around his tiny frame

“Protect me, Mama.”

“I will always protect you, Baby.” I replied, my heart melting

To which my smart (or smart—) three year old responded…

“Okay, well…protect me downstairs!”
