Very Cute!

There’s this little game of words we play with D’Lo, and as he’s been learning language he seems to also be developing this incredible sense of madman humor…bringing an abundance of laughter into our home on a daily basis.

Every time we respond to his silliness (is that a word?) with any kind of adjective, he always throws it back at us:

us: “D’Lo, you’re silly!”

him: “Noooo, you sitty!”

us: “D’Lo, your funny!”

him: “Noooo, you funny!”

us: “D’Lo, you’re crazy!”

him: “Don’t say dat! You cwazy!”

So, Devaney and I were playing with him and in a moment of pure Madman entertainment (and expecting the compliment to be returned) Dev says to him “D’Lo, you are soooo cute!” to which he immediately responds:

“Yes, I am cute!”

pauses…and he continues:

“I vewy cute!”

Muh-kee-tow Bites?

Took my daughter to our pediatrician’s office a few days ago. D’Lo tagged along because, well, because he’s two…and two year olds do that. Once we were called back, D’lo seemed extra friendly with the medical assistant (who happens to be an old family friend). She usually works extra hard to get on D’Lo’s good side and this day was no exception. Talking to him in an extra sweet voice, offering him stickers, whatever it takes to get a smile and some friendly toddler words from him (he actually has this effect on most women)…and today, much to our delight, it was working!

Since she was having such good luck with him, she decided to take it a step further and ask for a hug. He thought about her proposal, jumped to his feet, ran over to her, and hopped up into her arms! She was happy…and I was so proud.

Then, just as quickly as my pride had arrived, it made a quick exit and was replaced with horror…as he drew his face back from hers, pointed a little index finger right into her acne and asked:

You got muh-kee-tow bites?!

Lifting My Hands, Lifting My Voice

I WILL FIND A WAY…By Fred Hammond

Family and Friends, I just want to encourage you today…let you know that God is in control. That although the devil may be a liar and a killer and a thief…our God will always be victorious in the lives of His children! Like the schoolyard bully that flees in fear when our Daddy comes along to our defense, the enemy knows he is no match…Thank You Father.

Aunt Carol, like the others gone too soon, can no longer fall victim to the untruths of the world. While those of us that remain here mourn our empty embrace…we need to find comfort knowing that God, Himself, now wraps His arms around our loved ones.

So, lift up your hands…Lift up your voice…Find a way, through your pain, to thank our Almighty Creator for His blessings…
